The Incredible Years
The Incredible Years is a parenting curriculum with the focus of increasing positive interactions between parent and child. When this occurs, positive effects for the child include: increased social skills; effective anger management; decrease in aggressive behavior; better problem-solving skills; and increased school readiness/academic success. For parents, benefits of these positive interactions are: increased positive communication; improved limit-setting and nonviolent discipline methods; improved problem-solving skills and anger management; increased family support and school involvement.
In this video-based curriculum, four broad topic areas are addressed: play; praise and rewards; limit-setting, including household rules; consequences. Each interactive session provides a blend of education, discussion and support.
Targeted Population: Parents/Guardians of children (ages 3 – 8)
Program Length: 10 - 13 sessions, once per week
