Seeking Safety is a counseling program created for people between the ages of 14 and 17 who have gone through trauma, addiction, or both. Trauma can include experiences like abuse, violence, accidents, or natural disasters. Addiction may involve struggles with alcohol, drugs, gambling, food, or other harmful behaviors. Many people face both, and this program helps address how they can be connected.
The goal of Seeking Safety is to give you practical skills to feel safer and in control of your life. Instead of focusing on painful past events, it teaches what you can do right now to build strength and move forward. Every session has a simple structure with a check-in, an inspiring quote, a discussion, and a check-out to make the best use of your time.
Some examples of topics that are covered during Seeking Safety group sessions include:
Taking good care of yourself
Building healthy relationships
Setting boundaries
Coping with triggers
Asking for help
Creating meaning in your life
Practicing honesty and compassion
